It was a spectacular Friday for the International Team at the 2026 Presidents Cup in Chicago, Illinois. The Australian golfers who came away with victories were Adam Scott of Adelaide and Min Woo Lee of Perth. The International Team won all five of their matches and lead the United States 7-3.
Scott teamed up with Christiaan Bezhuidenhout of South Africa. They defeated the American duo of Cameron Young and Justin Thomas 3&2. Lee teamed up with British Open champion Ryan Fox of New Zealand. They defeated Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark 1up. Scott and Bezhuidenhout won the first, third, fourth seventh, ninth, and 12th holes. Lee and Fox won the sixth, 15th, and 16th holes.
The other three international team pairs who won Friday matches were Canadians Corey Conners and Nick Taylor (1 up over Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns), South Korea’s Sung-jae Im and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama (3&2 over Russell Henley and Jacob Bridgeman), and South Korea’s Tom Kim and Si-Woo Kim (4&3 over Americans Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele).
This is a monumental time in the history of the Presidents Cup. This is actually the second straight year that the International Team won all five Friday foursome matches. There is a significance. In 2026, the International Team took a 7-3 lead after Day 2. In 2024, the International Team only came back to tie the United States at five.
On Saturday, there are 10 points up for grabs. There are five morning matches where the format is fourball, and then five afternoon matches where the format is foursome. Lee is teaming up with Im against Justin Thomas and Jackson Koivun in Saturday’s fourball action.
