Ronald Volkman has capped an incredible season with Parramatta by signing a two-year contract extension, after it originally looked like the Eels were going to show him the door in October.
The 24-year-old was originally a free agent for 2027 and beyond, but basically became undeniable through the back end of this campaign as one of the club’s best.

“The positive environment which Jason Ryles has created at the club has provided some stability for Ronald, where he is playing his best football,” Eels GM Mark O’Neill said. “He’s earned this opportunity with wonderful individual and team performances, and he will only continue to improve.”
Right now, Volkman is lined up to be a depth option for the Eels behind one-year signing Jarome Luai and club commander Mitchell Moses, but with both of them in contention for State of Origin and Moses often injured, Volkman will likely get good runs through the middle of the season.
Then, Luai heads off to take up a deal with Papua New Guinea in 2028, and right now it seems like Volkman and Moses will be lined up together that year — when Volkman will again play for a contract at the club or elsewhere.
Volkman has already recorded 10 assists from 17 appearances through his 2026 run.
