The official team lists are in for Knights vs Roosters, with several key changes creating new betting opportunities ahead of kick-off. We’ve analysed the biggest winners, losers and matchups for punters following Team List Tuesday.
Biggest Winners – Knights
Kalyn Ponga
Ponga remains Newcastle’s biggest attacking weapon and will be central to everything the Knights create. With Dane Gagai unavailable, even more responsibility falls on the captain to spark the attack through his running game and support play.
Betting impact: Ponga is Newcastle’s best player market option, particularly in anytime try scorer, line break and player performance markets.
Fletcher Sharpe
Sharpe continues to develop into a genuine attacking threat and should see plenty of involvement alongside Ponga against a Roosters side that has been tested defensively at times this season.
Betting impact: Sharpe shapes as a value anytime try scorer and line break candidate.
Greg Marzhew
With Newcastle expected to attack early through their left edge, Marzhew’s powerful carries and finishing ability give him every chance to trouble the Roosters’ outside defence.
Betting impact: Marzhew profiles as one of the Knights’ better anytime try scorer options.
Biggest Losers – Knights
Dane Gagai
The experienced centre has been ruled out with a calf injury, leaving Newcastle without one of its most reliable backs on both sides of the ball.
Knights right-edge defence
Replacing Gagai’s experience against the Roosters’ dangerous outside backs will be a significant challenge.
Knights middle forwards
Containing Lindsay Collins may have become easier with his absence, but the Roosters still boast one of the competition’s strongest forward packs led by Spencer Leniu, Naufahu Whyte and Angus Crichton.

Biggest Winners – Roosters
James Tedesco
Tedesco returns after missing last week following a concussion suffered in the State of Origin decider. His return immediately strengthens the Roosters’ spine and provides another elite ball-runner around the middle.
Betting impact: Tedesco becomes one of the strongest player market selections of the round, particularly in anytime try scorer, try assist and player performance markets.
Robert Toia
After returning from Origin duties, Toia slots straight back into the centres and gives the Roosters another powerful attacking option on the edge.
Betting impact: His inclusion improves the Roosters’ outside backs and increases the appeal of their edge attack.
Sam Walker
Walker continues to steer the Roosters around the park with confidence and will look to exploit a Knights side missing one of its most experienced outside backs.
Betting impact: Walker shapes as a leading option in try assist and line break assist markets.
Biggest Losers – Roosters
Lindsay Collins
Collins misses the clash due to a head injury, taking one of the Roosters’ premier middle forwards out of the contest.
Roosters middle rotation
Without Collins, more responsibility falls on Spencer Leniu, Naufahu Whyte and the interchange forwards to match Newcastle through the middle.
Roosters edge defence
Containing Kalyn Ponga and Fletcher Sharpe remains one of the toughest defensive assignments in the competition, particularly when Ponga sweeps both sides of the field.
Early Betting Verdict
The biggest selection news is the Roosters welcoming back James Tedesco and Robert Toia, while the Knights have been dealt a blow with Dane Gagai sidelined. Although Newcastle still has Kalyn Ponga capable of producing moments of brilliance, the Roosters appear to have received the biggest boost from Team List Tuesday. From a betting perspective, Roosters head-to-head, James Tedesco player markets and Sydney’s outside backs stand out as the strongest betting angles heading into kick-off.
