The Brooklyn Nets have not done things the easy way this season. That trend continued on Tuesday evening when the Nets came back from a 24-point deficit to beat the Phoenix Suns 128-124.
This was the first time in Nets history that the team came back to win the game after trailing by 21 points or more at halftime according to ESPN. At the midway point of the contest, the Suns had a commanding 75-54 lead.
However, the Nets stormed back and outscored the Suns 34-25 in the third quarter, to pull within a dozen points. Then in the final stanza, the Nets outscored the Suns 40-24 in recording the four-point win.
Prior to Tuesday, the Nets had lost 106 consecutive games in franchise history when trailing by 21+ points at half-time. This was also the second-largest comeback for the Nets organization since the team moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn in 2012. On March 19, 2019, the Nets were once trailing the Sacramento Kings by 28 points, including 25 points in the fourth quarter, before coming away with a dramatic 123-121 win.
In the Nets win, James Harden led the way with a double-double. He not only led Brooklyn with 38 points, but 11 assists as well.
Still, defense continues to be a problem for Brooklyn. In their last 11 games, they have given up a minimum of 100 points in 10 of the contests. The lone exception was a 104-94 win over the Indiana Pacers on February 10. Still, during that time frame, the Nets are a respectable seven wins and four losses, including a four-game winning streak. At 18 wins and 12 losses, the Nets are second in the Eastern Conference, only one game back of the conference-leading Philadelphia 76ers.
