The Miami Heat are leading the Indiana Pacers two games to none in their best out of seven series in the first round of the Eastern Conference, and a major reason why is because of their prolific shooting from beyond the arc. On Thursday, the Heat set a franchise record for most three-point shots made in a game with 18 in a 109-100 win over the Indiana Pacers in the Orlando bubble according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.
The most prolific three-point shooter on the Heat was shooting guard Duncan Robinson of York, Maine. Robinson made seven of eight three-point attempts. Meanwhile, backup shooting guard Tyler Herro of Milwaukee, Wisconsin had three three-pointers, while Jimmy Butler of Houston, Texas, Goran Dragic of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Jae Crowder of Villa Rica, Georgia each had two three-pointers. Of the Heat players who had one three-pointer were Kelly Olynyk of Toronto, Ontario, and Andre Iguodala of Springfield, Illinois.
Robinson’s seven three-pointers he made tied a Heat franchise record for most three-pointers in a game. Mike Miller of Mitchell, South Dakota had seven three-pointers off the bench in a 121-106 Heat win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in game five of the 2012 NBA Finals on June 21, 2012, and Damon Jones of Galveston, Texas had seven three-pointers in a 116-98 Heat win over the New Jersey Nets in the Heat’s opening game of the 2005 NBA playoffs on April 24, 2005.
The Heat won game one of the series by a score of 113-101 on Tuesday. Miami has a two games to zero lead in the best out of seven series.
Klay Thompson of Los Angeles, CA set the NBA record for most three-pointers in a playoff game on May 28, 2016 with 11 in a 108-101 Golden State Warriors win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in game six of the 2016 Western Conference Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers have the NBA record for most three-pointers in a playoff game with 25 in a 123-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks on May 4, 2016 in game two of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
