Chris Paul of Winston-Salem, North Carolina made NBA history on Sunday by becoming only the third player ever to record 11000 assists. Paul achieved the mark according to Kurt Helin of Yahoo! Sports early in the contest. With one minute and 11 seconds into the game, Paul passed the basketball to DeAndre Ayton of Nassau, Bahamas, who made an alley-oop dunk. At the time, the Suns took a 5-0 lead and they went on to win by a score of 112-95 over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Paul finished the game with seven points, 11 assists and eight rebounds in 32 minutes of action. He also had one steal, one block, and was a +15.
Paul now has 11009 assists all-time. John Stockton of Spokane, Washington had 15806 assists with the Utah Jazz from 1984 to 2003. Current Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd of San Francisco, California had 12091 assists with the Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, New Jersey Nets, and New York Knicks from 1994 to 2013.
Of Paul’s 11009 assists, 4228 have been with the New Orleans Hornets, 4023 have been with the Los Angeles Clippers, 1356 with the Phoenix Suns, 930 with the Houston Rockets, and 472 with the Oklahoma City Thunder. It should be noted that Paul spent time in Oklahoma City as well as New Orleans while with the Horners organization from 2005 to 2007.

The Suns meanwhile have won two of their first three games to start the year. They beat the Dallas Mavericks 107-105 in their home opener on October 19. In three games, Paul is averaging 10.7 assists per game.
In the offseason, the Suns were in the headlines frequently. The NBA determined that owner Robert Sarver had engaged in inappropriate conduct and was fined $10 million, and suspended as a result.
