The Doncaster Mile winner steps out for the first time this preparation on Saturday under Hugh Bowman who has been stranded on 99 Group 1 wins since the Queensland Winter Carnival.
The now seven-year-old had a light but fruitful Autumn campaign picking up the Group 1 Doncaster Mile along with placings in the Group 1 All Aged and a close up fourth in the Group 1 George Ryder behind Think It Over.
Trainer James Cummings believes the horse is ready but concedes it’s going to be a tough ask against a star studded field come Saturday.
“I think he’s fit enough to win first up but the level of competition is extremely high and seven furlongs is something a little below of his best.
“The fact that he’s full of confidence after winning the Doncaster and running a ripping race in the All Aged Stakes leaves him pretty well placed to run a very tractable race in the Winx,” Cummings said.
Hugh Bowman jumps aboard the Godolphin galloper for the first time in a race on Saturday and will be looking to register his 100th career Group 1 victory.
Cascadian is currently a $10 chance in the Group 1 Winx Stakes on Saturday.
