Antique Jewel
Landing on another short cerise and white (despite not really being a fan of doing so) in a race that was essentially a process of elimination. The dangers to her are Surveillance and Red Hot Hope. Surveillance I just don’t think has come back as a 3YO, with his form this year a far-cry from his 2YO form which would be good enough to just about trot in here at his peak. Finished 10L off Gemma’s Son 1st up in the Magic Millions and likely finds the top from gate 9 here but I just am really not sure where he is at. Red Hot Hope just flops out of the gates, gets back to last and ultimately wants further than this, despite having a nice finishing burst he will be spotting Antique Jewel lengths once again here for running an identical closing split to her last start. Antique Jewel maps to just sit on the back of Surveillance from gate 3, has shown she can hold a position and still finish off and despite not being first past the post so far in her career, this is her race and she looks so well placed to get off the mark. Anything over even money I personally think is a gift so I’m happy to take the $2.10 available.

Think the fav is a really nice type, but I’m going to have a couple of small specs around him at $1.40 here, given he could find some trouble here from the wide draw.

One for the replay watchers last start in a 60+ behind Lipstick Flickers where he was huge in defeat. Drew very wide, was slow away and taken back to last. Was absolutely bolting for a run strung up behind horses for essentially the entirety of the straight before finding a gap and savaging the line once he’d found some air with 100m to go, by which stage it was too late. Likely gets back again here, but with the rail out 14m, they should be able to run on by this stage of the day and with some cover in transit, can be charging late down the middle.

He’s flying. Really liked his last start effort down in Albany behind Saturday city winner Alpha and Omega in a CL2 over the 1100 when coming from well back for 3rd. Steps up in grade to a 60+ here, but with the claim for Carleen gets in with a featherweight 51kgs, 5.5kgs on Triple Missile and maps for a cushy run 3 back the fence. If the splits come, can be making his presence felt late in the piece, in really good form.
