Sydney FC v Western Sydney FC – ANZ Stadium, Saturday 5:05 pm AEDT

Derbies are always tough to pick, Sydney FC who are the reigning premiers struggled last season against Western Sydney, and with a much-improved squad the Wanderers could get another shock result tonight. I do think Sydney will win but it will be close and should be a low scoring affair.

Melbourne City v Western United – AAMI Park, Saturday 7:10 pm AEDT

Another derby tonight, only this time in Melbourne. City should win this one comfortably and sit nicely at 1.94. I predict another low scoring game.

Newcastle Jets V Macarthur FC- Hunter Stadium, Sunday 4:05 pm AEDT

The Jets have started the season dismally, two losses in two games. They welcome newcomers Macarthur to Hunter Stadium and will want to get their first win of the season in front of their fans. Macarthur has only scored two goals in three games and the Jets have only scored 1 goal in 2 games, this game doesn’t look like it will produce many goals.

The Mariners head into this game with a clean record (2 wins out of 2) and without Macarthur who is one point ahead having played two additional games, they would be top of the league. The Wanderers put in a good performance against reigning premiers Sydney FC, they have played three games with one win, draw and loss. The exact result of this game can go either way, Wanderers have more games under their belt whereas the Central Coast Mariners have had more rest and have impressed many with their start to the season having won five games in a row over the span of the last two seasons.

The Jets have started the season poorly, they lost a host of players, their coach and continue to face ownership problems. The value of a Brisbane win is too hard to pass up, especially with the struggles the Jets are facing both on-field and off-field. The Roar looked strong in their win over Melbourne Victory and impressed in their season-opening defeat.

The Glory last played almost seven weeks ago in the Asian Champions League, so it could be a tough entrance back into the league.
