A wild day one of the NFL playoffs, but there is plenty left to come. We have some incredible match ups and a snow game in Buffalo to come.

I will likely be adding some more picks before the games so make sure to check back.

Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys

The Packers have actually built some momentum over the bac end of the season. Jordan Love has really emerged as a legitimate NFL starter and they come into this game with a real chance of causing an upset.

However, I think this Cowboys team is pretty special. They may not be quite as complete as the 49ers, but I think they are the next best team in the NFC, and maybe even the entire league. CeeDee Lamb has really made a case to be considered the best wide receiver in the league, and Dak Prescott has had an incredible season. He comes out on top in pretty much all advanced metrics and really should be in the MVP race, and perhaps even the winner.

Dallas have playmakers all over the defence and I think they will be fired up for this one. I like the Packers, but the Cowboys just have a lot more ways to win this one and I think Dallas will dominate this one.

Los Angeles Rams @ Detroit Lions

A lot of the story of this one will be Matthew Stafford going back to Detroit as the Lions host a playoff game. But Jared Goff is perhaps the one with more to prove after that trade.

The Lions highs this year have been incredible, but they have had far too many games, particularly over the second half of the season, and it is worrying coming into this one against an offence that can really score points quickly if the Lions get off to a sluggish start.

The Rams defensive unit is underwhelming on paper, but they have performed fantastically this year. The coaching job in LA has been incredible. I think they can cause the Lions problems, and if they can get a turnover or two, then the offence is likely to punish Detroit.

The Lions have a higher ceiling than the Rams, but I think that LA’s consistency gives them the edge here in a huge playoff game.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills

This game has been pushed back to Monday due to the horrific conditions in Buffalo today. But it is still likely to be very tricky for these teams and scoring points might be hard.

This is a bit of a math play really. With a very low total here, 10.5 points is a huge spread for Buffalo. The Steelers may not have been exciting this year, but they are not a team that has ever just rolled over and I do not expect Mike Tomlin to let them do that here. I do not expect the offences to look great – conditions are likely worse than in Kansas City where the teams struggled there – so I am backing the Steelers to keep this one close, even in a Buffalo win overall.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers almost snuck into the playoffs by winning the NFC South. The clear worst division in football. But they should not be underestimated. They have a roster full of experience and a lot of playmakers that can get things done.

The Eagles had a disastrous end to the season, and missing AJ Brown for this one will not make things any easier.

However, I just trust last season’s NFC Champions to get things right now that it really matters. They are still the team that started this season on fire. They dominated the first 2/3 of their schedule and with Jalen Hurts at quarterback they always had a chance. Get a big win here and the recent issues quickly get forgotten.
