A massive morning of Randwick trials headlined by Ka Ying Rising’s hit out in the Everest Course Proper trial over 1000m. Check out our analyst’s comments on the feature trial as well as black booked runners from the remainder of the morning.
Everest Trial 1000m:
It was a familiar sight for the punters that turned out at Randwick for King Ying Rising’s tune up trial on Australian soil. He pinged the gates in his usual fashion from the outside gate and was scrubbed along by Purton before opening up a 2L lead on Ninja with Joliestar and Apocalyptic a further 2L away.
He was unable to maintain any of his 2L lead up the straight. With both under a tight hold, Ninja ate away at it before going away with a 1.8L victory. Apocalyptic, Joliestar, Headwall and Angel Capital all went to the line together a further 2.6L back.
Ka Ying Rising’s trial had a very familiar feel to it when he was overrun by Linebacker and Overpass this time last year. Those in his corner will say it is merely a case of rinse and repeat from his dominant Everest win last year. The concern is that this year’s edition is near certain to be run on a rain affected track, which he is untested on. Purton did say post race that his wheels did spin somewhat on the Soft 7 surface adding to the build up knowing that Tempted relishes those conditions.
