Tony Finau of Salt Lake City, Utah won the 3M Open at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota on Sunday. Just like the Evian Championship in France where Canadian Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario posted a score of -17, that was the score Finau posted over four days to win on the PGA Tour.

Finau had four rounds in the 60s to win on Sunday. He shot a four-under par in round one and round four, three-under-par 68 in round two, and six-under-par in round three. On Saturday, where Finau was able to generate momentum, he had six birdies compared to zero bogeys.

Two other golfers were in contention on Sunday. Sungjae Im of South Korea and Emiliano Grillo of Argentina were tied for second place at -14.

Heading into the final round, the player to catch was Scott Piercy of Las Vegas, Nevada. After 54 holes, Piercy was at -18  and had a four-stroke lead over Grillo. However it was a disastrous Sunday for the player who has a Canadian connection as he won the 2012 Royal Bank of Canada Canadian Open in Hamilton, Ontario. Piercy had a round of five-over-par 76, and finished in a time for fourth place, and four strokes back of Finau.

This was Finau’s third career victory on the PGA Tour. He previously won the 2016 Puerto Rico Open, and then the 2021 Northern Trust. Both of Finau’s prior wins came in playoffs. In Puerto Rico, Finau beat American Steve Marino. At the Northern Trust, Finau beat 2022 British Open champion Cameron Smith of Australia.
