The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 27/2

A 4yo gelding from the Cummings yard that I expect to improve sharply with some fitness under his belt is my lone horse to follow from Saturday’s Chipping Norton Stakes Day at Randwick. Click below to read more.

The Plunge’s Service Results:
  • +33.5 units of profit since December
  • 31 bets: 10 wins /9 placings

Criaderas

  • Race 4
  • Distance 1300m
  • Class: G3 Liverpool City Cup

Criaderas worked through the Saturday grades nicely last preparation and it culminated with a third placing in the Villiers before being sent for a spell. The 4yo gelding was heavily supported when resuming on Saturday so it was a little surprising to see the son of Lohnro carrying some condition in the yard.

As expected, he settled at the rear of the field and was still there on the turn. It took him a while to work through his gears and when he was still  last at the 200m in a bunch field, he looked like he was going to run on to finish midfield. From the the jets opened up and he charged home to finish 0.2L 2nd to Think It Over.

When To Bet

I expect him to improve a lot after that much needed run and can’t wait to see him over 2000m later in the preparation. The G2 Ajax Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill in a fortnight looks like a nice stepping stone where he’ll be very tough to beat.
