Tempted has been confirmed for Godolphin’s slot in The Everest at Royal Randwick on Saturday 17 October, setting up a rematch with Ka Ying Rising, who beat her in the race last year.
Godolphin confirmed the mare as its runner in the $20 million sprint on Tuesday 6 October in an official statement, three days after her win in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
What Godolphin said
“She is an outstanding mare, unbeaten in 2026 and I’m sure she will represent Godolphin extremely well,” Godolphin Australia Managing Director Andy Makiv said.
“As a Godolphin homebred, we are all very proud of her and the thrill she gives us on raceday.”
Unbeaten in 2026
The Ciaron Maher-trained daughter of Street Boss won the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes, the Group 1 Surround Stakes and the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint in the autumn. She returned this spring to win the Group 2 Concorde Stakes and the Premiere, taking her record to nine wins from 14 starts and more than $7 million in prize money, Godolphin said.
In the Premiere she settled towards the rear under Chad Schofield before beating Savvy Hallie by almost three lengths, with Marhoona third, as TSB reported. Schofield will ride her again in The Everest, Racenet reported.
Ka Ying Rising rematch
Tempted ran second to Ka Ying Rising in The Everest last year as a three-year-old, with stablemate Jimmysstar third, according to the official result. Jimmysstar is back for another try, with owner Ozzie Kheir confirming his start and Nash Rawiller booked to ride.
Ka Ying Rising was beaten a long head by Ninja in a Randwick trial on Tuesday 6 October. “I think if the conditions are like they are (for Tuesday’s trial and Saturday), Tempted is definitely the main rival,” his trainer David Hayes said afterwards, Racenet reported.
The Everest field so far
Racenet reported that Ninja, Blue Door, Headwall, Savvy Hallie and Spicy Martini are already locked into slots, with Joliestar and Angel Capital expected to join them. Final declarations close at 10am on Tuesday 13 October, and our Everest field guide tracks every slot.
