Best Selection: R8 Portland
The Smith import finally delivered a win last start in the 2000m Listed Mayor’s Cup after some patchy form. The step up to 2400m is a big plus in this where he was a winner at his only go at the trip in Europe. He does go up5.5kg off that win but looks to have a class edge on this field. There’s enough juice in the price to go again with him.

Value Selection: R6 – Candlewick
Candlewick looks a likely improver this prep coming off a nice 0.4L 2nd to In Flight in what I expect to be a hot Warwick Farm trial. She rolled along in front and angled out wide on the turn before going right to the line with G2 winner In Flight. She was around the mark with a pair of 3rds in stronger company last prep but looks to be getting back to her best. $7 looks a nice price.
