NRLW: Roosters Seal Perfect Season With 30-6 Grand Final Win Over Broncos

The Sydney Roosters completed a perfect NRLW season on Sunday 4 October, thrashing the Brisbane Broncos 30-6 in the grand final at Accor Stadium to claim their third premiership and avenge last year’s decider defeat.

Official NRL.com match scoring showed the Roosters on 30 and the Broncos on 6 at the finish. The Guardian and ABC Sport both reported the same full-time score, with the Tricolours undefeated across the entire 2026 campaign.

How the Roosters ran riot

According to The Guardian’s live blog, Brydie Parker opened the scoring in the fourth minute and later completed a hat-trick, with further first-half tries to Tarryn Aiken, Isabelle Kelly, Jayme Fressard and Amber Hall. The Roosters led 26-0 at half-time after dominating possession and field position, as ABC and the Sydney Morning Herald also described.

Parker’s third try early in the second half stretched the lead to 30-0. Brisbane’s only points came late when Jesse Southwell scored and converted, leaving the final score 30-6. Guardian coverage noted Jocelyn Kelleher’s kicking game repeatedly pinned the Broncos, while conversions were scarce for the winners after an early successful kick.

Farewells on both sides

The match was the final NRLW game for Broncos great Ali Brigginshaw and for Roosters duo Corban Baxter and Millie Elliott, with previews from Fox Sports and NRL.com framing the rematch of the 2025 grand final. The Guardian said Baxter and Elliott left as premiership players after the perfect-season win. SMH’s live coverage also noted Rima Butler retiring as a premiership player, and Brigginshaw bowing out in defeat.

Broncos captain Tamika Upton, chasing a sixth grand final win from six attempts according to NRL.com preview material, could not spark a comeback. ABC reported a late consolation try finished by Southwell after a combination with Upton.

What it means

The Roosters’ win sets up a grand final day double at Accor Stadium, with their men’s side due to face the Newcastle Knights later on Sunday evening (7:30pm AEDT kick-off). TSB’s existing NRL Grand Final Match Centre guide and key stats coverage remain the hub for the men’s decider.

AU Google Trends had NRLW above 20,000 searches through the afternoon, with Tamika Upton and Ali Brigginshaw also spiking, matching the decider window.

What we don’t know yet

Detailed official try-by-try NRL.com match report text, Karyn Murphy Medal voting, and full post-match quotes from both coaches were still landing as live blogs closed. Attendance figures circulating on Wikipedia had not been independently confirmed in the primary live reports cited above at the time of writing.
