The New York Knicks have won the 2026 NBA Finals. On Saturday night from the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90. With the win, the Knicks won the best out of seven series four games to one.
This was the Knicks’s third title in franchise history. They previously won in 1970 and 1973. At the time, the top Knicks were Willis Reed, Bill Bradley, Walt Frazier, and Jerry Lucas. Frazier remains a fixture in the Knicks organization as a colour-commentator for MSG.
In game five, the Knicks star was guard Jalen Brunson of New Brunswick, New Jersey. Brunson scored 47.9% of the Knicks total points as he scored 45 of the Knicks total points.
Three more Knicks reached double digits in points. Small forward Mikal Bridges of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had 14 points, small forward Josh Hart of Silver Spring, Maryland had 13 points, and forward OG Anunoby of London, England had 11 points.
There were three Knicks players who reached double digits in rebounds. Hart led the Knicks in rebounds and was the only Knicks player who had the double-double as he had 11 boards. Meanwhile, centers Karl-Anthony Towns of Edison, New Jersey and Mitchell Robinson of Pensacola, Florida had 10 rebounds each. What was interesting though was the fact that Towns and Robinson struggled mightily offensively as they only had two points each.
The 2026 Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award went to Brunson. In five games against the Spurs, Brunson averaged 32.6 points per game, 4.6 assists per game, 4.2 rebounds per game and two steals per game. He had a field goal percentage of .421, three point percentage of .389, and free throw percentage of .860.
