Greek forward Christos Tzolis is switching professional soccer teams. According to Mandeep Sanghera of the BBC on Thursday, Tzolis is going from Club Brugge in Belgium to England’s Arsenal for 34 million pounds.
Arsenal was in need of a forward because Leandro Trossard went to Besiktas on July 14 in a transfer deal of $18 million. Like Tzolis, Trossard has a Belgian connection as he is from Maasmechelen, Belgium. Last season, Trossard had seven goals.
Tzolis is a left winger who has scored nine goals in 34 international games for Greece. The last three goals came in 2026 World Cup qualifying. Tzolis scored the fifth goal for Greece in a 5-1 win over Belarus on September 5, 2025 in Piraeus, Greece, in a 3-1 Greece loss to Denmark in Copenhagen on October 12, and the game-winning goal in a 3-2 Greece win over Scotland in Piraeus on November 15.
Even though Greece beat Scotland in World Cup qualifying, Scotland went to the World Cup and Greece did not. In Group C of UEFA World Cup qualifying, Scotland advanced to the World Cup by finishing in first place in a four team qualifying tournament that included Greece, Denmark and Belarus. Scotland had a record of 4-1-1, while Greece was in third with a record of two wins, three losses and one draw for seven points and was therefore eliminated.
Tzolis, a native of Thessaloniki, Greece, is returning to play professionally in England. He had one goal in 27 games with Norwich City from 2021 to 2024. However, Tzolis’s soccer career has blossomed in Belgium over the last three seasons as he scored 33 goals in 74 games with Club Brugge.
Arsenal is coming off an excellent English Premier League season. They won the Premier League title convincingly with 85 points, seven points more than second place Manchester City.
