In the second of a 32-part series, we are featuring all National Football League teams with a prediction of where each team will finish within their division, key off-season acquisitions and their top fantasy stars. Here are the Atlanta Falcons.
Key Off-Season Acquisitions
The Atlanta Falcons brought in two key free agent acquisitions in the offseason and made three trades. They signed wide receiver Jahan Dotson of Newark, New Jersey to a two-year contract worth $15 million on March 12 and signed offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor of Cocoa, Florida to a one-year contract worth $5 million on April 10.
The Falcons’s first offseason trade came on March 21 when they acquired Canadian safety Sydney Brown of London, Ontario from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Falcons also received a fourth and sixth round pick in 2026, and traded a fourth and sixth round pick (of higher draft order) in 2026 to the Eagles.
The Falcons’s second offseason trade came on April 17, when they acquired defensive tackle Maason Smith of Houma, Louisiana for defensive tackle Ruke Orhorhoro of Lagos, Nigeria in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Falcons’s third offseason trade came on June 16 when they acquired offensive tackle Wanya Morris of Grayson, Georgia in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Falcons also received a seventh round pick in 2027, while the Chiefs received a sixth round pick in 2027.
Dotson is joining his third NFL team after two seasons each with the Washington Commanders (2022 and 2023) and the Philadelphia Eagles (2024 and 2025). In 2025, Dotson had 18 catches for 262 receiving yards and one touchdown. The major score was for 40 yards from Jalen Hurts and came in a 38-20 Eagles win over the New York Giants on October 26. Dotson was also part of the Eagles team that won Super Bowl LIX. On February 9, 2025, Dotson had two catches for 42 receiving yards, as the Eagles beat the Chiefs 40-22.
Taylor is joining his third NFL team after four seasons with the Jaguars (2019 to 2022) and three seasons with the Chiefs (2023 to 2025). Morris spent the last three seasons with the Chiefs (2023 to 2025). Three years ago Taylor and Morris were teammates as the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Super Bowl LVIII.
Brown spent the last three seasons with the Eagles. In 2025, he had 34 combined tackles (17 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles). Smith played the last two seasons with the Jaguars. In 2025, he had 15 combined tackles (11 assisted tackles and four solo tackles) and one pass deflection. The pass deflection came in a 26-21 Jaguars win over the San Francisco 49ers on September 28.
Fantasy Stars
The Falcons have three players ranked in the top 10 at their respective position in fantasy football. Running back Bijan Robinson of Tucson, Arizona is ranked second behind Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions. This past season, Robinson had 1478 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns and 79 catches for 820 receiving yards and four touchdown catches. Drake London of Moorpark, California is ranked seventh among wide receivers. Last year he had 68 catches for 919 receiving yards and seven touchdown catches. Kyle Pitts Sr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is ranked eighth among tight ends. Last year he had 88 catches for 928 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Projected Finish
The Falcons are expected to contend with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first place in the NFC South in 2026. The Falcons have arguably the best player inside the division in running back Bijan Robinson. However, one superstar does not bring a championship. Just ask hockey star Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. If Atlanta can solidify their defense, they could win a divisional title. I personally prefer the Buccaneers passing game to the Falcons passing attack. That is why I have the Falcons finishing second.
